How Does Spiritual Counseling Work?
Obviously different spiritual counseling practitioners work in different ways. But I want to explain how it works with me.
First of all, from the minute I have a session booking or a session time set up, I know that things have started—spirit has begun to work on whatever may be troubling the client. I sort of “tap in” at that point and add energy to help the person who is reaching out to me for guidance. I often get information in the days leading up to the session; I’ll sometimes even wake up in the middle of the night and have to write something down that I am directed to share with them.
Once the session date has arrived, whether it’s by phone or in person, I call in the spiritual guides that I work with* (as well as the client’s) and light a candle prior to the start time. I have learned that making sure I am clear and working with only light beings, along with the ritual of lighting a candle sets the stage for the best possible session. I learned this the hard way early on in doing this work. You can ask me about that, or read about it here: https://pelauria.com/2018/08/10/an-early-session/
Something you should understand is that I try to “get myself out of the way” when I do sessions, so that the client can be guided by their light guides and teachers. This does not mean that I “channel” in the way that some do, where their consciousness leaves and they let another soul take over temporarily. Absolutely not, no way, I don’t believe in that. I am present the entire time. I just want my chattering mental thoughts to move out, and let the truth move in and through me. That is my intention with all healing sessions.
I particularly like working with someone in my office. I have a massage table set up simply so people can lie down while I work them. I have pillows and blankets to make them cozy and comfortable. Even with a phone session I ask the client to lie down and close their eyes.
Lying down and closing your eyes causes you to relax and enter more of a meditative state; your brain waves slow down to an alpha frequency where they are more receptive to spirit. As a practitioner, my brain waves will “entrain” or join with and match my client’s. Things really start to move at this point.
(You can read about brainwave frequencies here: https://brainworksneurotherapy.com/what-are-brainwaves)
When the session begins—and throughout—I run through a variety of questions and verify accuracy using muscle checking on myself as a “double check” on the information I am getting.
Beyond that, every single session has its own path and is based on whatever the client most needs to hear, learn or do to help them move forward in the highest truth in their life at the present time. I take notes about what actions are needed after the session on something I call a “prescription” for healing. I give the client a copy that they take with them. (If it’s a phone session, I email the actions needed.)
After the session is complete, usually in about an hour, I often notice that the person looks obviously transformed; they look lighter and brighter, even if they’ve gotten emotional or cried about something that came up. (I have plenty of tissues on hand if that happens.)
In every single case, by the end of the session I feel a surge of love from my soul that is the most beautiful, indescribable and powerful feeling I have ever experience in my life, for which I am profoundly grateful. Because by that point, I know in my heart that there is no one more magnificent than you are. You are important, you are special, and you are loved far beyond what you can possibly conceive.
