Easter Message
I guess you can call me more of a Thomas Jefferson Christian, although I do see Jesus Christ as an ascended spiritual master with everything to teach humanity.
Of course, Thomas’ moral reputation is forever stained because we now know he hid his slave “wife,” Sally Heming, and their resulting six children hidden away like the cowardly, hypocritical slaver that he was, only freeing the children once they reached adulthood, but keeping Sally enslaved for life by agreement. (She made the agreement for the sake of her children.)
Separating the discredited man from his message though, I still like his attitude toward the Bible. Thomas Jefferson cut out all of Jesus Christ’s words and made his own Bible from that, discarding the Old Testament as well as most of the New Testament as well.
From The Google:
- Jefferson meticulously cut and pasted passages from the four Gospels in English, French, Greek, and Latin, focusing on Jesus’ moral teachings while omitting miracles and supernatural events.
- Jefferson viewed Jesus as a great teacher of human ethics and moral principles, not as a divine figure.
- He strongly advocated for the separation of church and state, believing that religious freedom was a fundamental human right.
- Jefferson rejected the divinity of Jesus, the resurrection, and the atonement, which were central to traditional Christian beliefs. He placed a strong emphasis on reason and human morality as guiding principles. Jefferson’s views were influenced by the Enlightenment, which emphasized reason, humanism, and individual rights.
- While he rejected some aspects of traditional Christianity, Jefferson identified as a “real Christian” in the sense that he was a disciple of Jesus’ moral teachings.
I am sharing this message on a day that represents “resurrection” to remind us all that we all make choices every single day as humans, and that we can change our minds and change our lives. Every little free will choice you make affects your future, so choose wisely.
It is NEVER the right choice to use RACE, GENDER, AGE, ABILITY, RELIGION OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION to judge anyone else. Your job is to rigorously hold yourself to task and make adjustments when you veer off your path.
Thomas Jefferson is gone. As one of the Founding Fathers, he has a lot to atone for in terms of his own personal choices in life, but he also had some great ideas that live on as bedrocks of our democracy.
How are you living your life? Are you living in alignment with the highest and most impeccable ethical and moral principles? How can you do better? What would Jesus do?
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Happy Easter to REAL CHRISTIANS everywhere. I hope you can afford eggs for your Easter baskets. They are still extremely expensive at my grocery store.
